I co-founded the business and my day-to-day role can best be described as a product manager and marketing director. I have led ideation and market research leading to the development of new plugins. As a small business owner, I handle everything from functional specs to branding and launch promotions. Project management skills are essential whether I am working with a small group or a large team.
I designed and implemented automated email "drip" campaigns to nurture leads to conversion through a free trial. To support the post-purchase experience, I wrote and built a knowledge base and trigger emails to focus on technical support.
5 Star is still an active business that does require my full-time. The most recent plugin launched was Dynamic Copyright Year for the New Year in 2023. And, our first Blesta plugin in 2022. Fandom Marketing (2011-2020) was a full service digital agency in San Diego. I started it as a social media agency when businesses were still figuring it out. As my clients' needs grew and social media became more integrated to the full marketing effort, Fandom grew into a full service digital agency. At the height of our success I managed a staff of 20 and dedicated roles for project manager, client services, graphic design and web development.
We were named agency of record for Bumble Bee Foods from 2016-2018. Other notable accounts included Sport Chalet, Go Rhino truck accessories, NetApp, Qualcomm, and Carl Zeiss Vision.
The Cannabiz Agency (2017-2022) provided positive lifestyle marketing to the cannabis industry, when every other business was afraid to touch it.
A cannabis stock photography business "sprouted" out of it, which are still for sale on iStock, Deposit Photo, and direct here on TCAimages. The industry was in need of beautiful lifestyle photography that normalized cannabis. I saw a need and filled it. It was the most fun and creative initiative I've taken on... and the least profitable!
